Red & Leopard Shoes!

No trip is ever complete with a visit to the local mall, because I think, it's another way to get to know the country, what it produces, brands, interests... so during my trip to Bogotá that's exactly what I did. Being the next door neighbor, I knew that they have a strong leather  & cotton industry, as well as fantastic coffee. So at the mall I went on my search of local brands.

I'd bought two leather purses. very different and creative of local designers as family gifts, and on my way out while looking at the windows I see these shoes. I think I might have gasped.

They were so "cool," I liked the color, the design, the leopard print - so different from anything I'd seen and own. So, though I take a long long time to make up my mind, I instantly knew I wanted them. So in I go, and ask for the shoes in my size, try them on and decide they're perfect. So off I go with with my fantastic red & leopard shoes! I don't think the pics do justice to their rich blood red color. And, needless to say, they're definitely on my favorite shoe list now!

The store was of the designer Nora Lozza, and she had really nice leather purses & shoes. I knew nothing about this designer and from what I asked, she just has stores in Colombia. However, I was very surprised by the innovative designs and quality, yup I took the time to look at everything there was in the store.  For me, it was really interesting to get to know a little bit more about the Colombian fashion industry, and I think this also shows that in our region we're really moving forward in regards to design, creating new things... Maybe I should do more posts about designers from our region... and show that we have a lot going on as well : )

Vintage roses and polka dots

Vintage dress, Steve Madden shoes

This dress- is one of our vintage treasures. It's actually my sister's and it was only after about a year that she finally lent it to me for a wedding. It was a moment of glory!

Isn't it beautiful?

Is this correct? To  brag about the beauty of the clothes you wear?
Hmm, given that I have a blog, I guess it's them premise of it all hehe.

The shape of the skirt, the sweetheart neckline, plus it's blue with polka dot, seriously, love at first sight. Plus, I love that not only is it vintage but that it's vintage piece created or inspired by a dress style that goes further back, fantastique!

I opted for a nude version of the Steve Madden shoes I also have in black - yup, bought both colors - the color, the height and shape of the shoes are absolutely perfect! Oh and nude shoes, have been included to my "10-basic-pieces" list.

Thanks for visiting!

Bogotá Part 1

At the beginning of November, I traveled to Bogota, Colombia. Considering it's a neighboring country, I'd never been before. So I went to the capital, Bogotá, located 2600 m above sea level - this means that the first night you get the most awful headache and you feel like you're in slow motion - afterwards, you can enjoy the city!

My favorite part: the weather! It was around 16-18°C. I live in a country with no winter, so I went all out on the fall attire here! (Yay!) And interestingly, this weather is around all year round, but I think that would be too much for me.

I ate so much (I tried every fruit juice possible), visited many parts of the city which is so different from my own, all the way from the weather to the accent and character of the people, and bought some interesting leather goods (purses!)

Now on to the pictures:
1) Plaza Bolívar in La Candelaria, small family restaurants (why is it that these small hidden restaurants always have the best food?), and a street sign (Bogotá is a big square where all horizontal streets are called Carreras and vertical streets Calles and they're all numbered - don't get me started on the direction system in Venezuela).
2) Catedral Primada in the Plaza Bolívar (La Candelaria). The pigeons are everywhere and actually if you're quiet you can hear a big chorus of coos fill up the whole square - very cool.
3) The inside of the Catedral Primada, Botero museum (well actually it's more like a Botero sculpture in the Botero museaum), El Retiro (the posh zone in Bogotá where all the cool stores/people and places are).
Birthday on Friday! Yaayyy

Playing with the sun

Zara shirt, pants, flats

I think this is one of my favorite outfits because of the mix in fabrics, I've actually posted this shirt before and the pants are from my summer sales stock. The shirt is the one that I go to when "I have nothing to wear" and I've never really worn it in a different way except the "way it's supposed to" so I felt very proud (yay for me!) when I tried a different way to wear the shirt, and it shows how for people who are not so adventurous with trying different outfit combinations (me!) things we generally wouldn't put together can actually work.

Hope you have a great week!!
Birthday coming up: This Friday!! : D

New In!

So this is what happens when you just go "window shopping":
You pass in front of a store, look at the mannequins, then you go in, "just to look" - you end up seeing something you like, then you try it on "just to see how it fits" and "just for fun."

Then you really like how they look, and you also look at the price and think "hmm not expensive at all" and you also think "hmm I've been looking for something like this..." and then before you know it, you've fallen into the trap:
You bought something else!

Yeah so this is exactly what happened to me, went to the store "just to look" - Though to be completely honest I already had a reason to go into the store to buy something very specific, and then I come out of with a new pair of Steve Madden sandals...yup consumerism is killing me!

At least they're pretty right?
Does this also happen to you?

Peacock Feathers

Sooo, it's a long time! I'm so busy, I keep complaining I don't have time to blog, but the truth is that if I really wanted to blog, then I would, so therefore I dug out a bunch of pictures and I'm ready to blog again, because I still love fashion!
For this outfit I opted for something that's becoming one of my signature pieces: colored jeans! J'adore. These really bright orange pants - trust me they are really bright! I decided to tone them done a bit with a little black and a shirt that kind of looks like peacock feathers, plus I can play with it and show a little shoulder. Oh and the shoes, another great sales find in Zara!

Plaid & Red

I really like how the shirt is slightly longer than the jacket.
DIY Bracelet, so crafty : D
Zara jacket, Calvin Klein jeans, Bershka shirt, Candy Bag by Furla & Coach shoes, DIY bracelet.
I'm back!! I hope someone missed me hehe. I've been so busy and so many things have changed, that I just didn't have time to blog.

So are you following Fashion Week? Any trends for summer? I'll probably go over everything during the weekend to see what cool designs hit the runway. I also created a little polyvore about fall trends (for fun considering we don't even have fall), but I forgot to save it!!! Now it's gone. And it was such hard work finding the perfect clothes grrr.

Anywho, I love this jacket, I love the patten and the cool elbow patches it has, so retro hehe! My mom found it, as always with many of my favorite clothes. My Candy Bag & shoes bring the pop of color to the outfit. Oh yeah and the pants are slightly too big, oh well!

Thank you for visiting now after so long!

Panther T-shirt & Flowered Skirt

I was originally going to wear/ buy this outfit. I'd been eyeing this Zara skirt, and when I saw it on sale I thought, yay let's buy it. The panther shirt I looove, just because I really like cats - a lot. I thought the clash of colors was cool, the mix of edgy/girly as well. I think I'm working on the pattern mixing/clashing trend. Anywho, unfortunately as I was checking the skirt (always check your clothes before you buy them) I noticed that the fabric was torn, and unlike say a zipper or a stain, that can't be fixed. Soo boo no skirt, but I did buy the shirt!

Later that day, as we were getting ready to go to dinner (to this really weird) Mexican restaurant, I pulled out my new shirt and a similar skirt, which I think also looks pretty nice. I'm also a big fan of high waisted skirts. Again there's a common line of black, but the mix of patterns makes the outfit different (I hope).
Zara shirt, Steve Madden shoes, Skirt (?)

Travel Tales: Las Ruinas

First installment of travel tales!
Today, August 15th, Panama City turns 490 years old. It was founded in 1519 by Pedro Arías Dávila, and it was one of the first cities to be founded along the Pacific coast. Therefore, I decided it would be a nice little tribute to post about the ruins of the first city. There are ruins left of what used to a convent, church and houses. The holes where used as leaning posts to build the high walls and protect themselves of pirates!

The ruins today are a popular touristic attraction, but what I like best is actually the contrast between what Panama city is today (see the skyscrapers in the background) and how it started.

The ruins are considered a Unesco World Heritage site, and after taking a class in Cultural Heritage, it was disappointing to see the terrible restoration that has been done to some of the buildings, using inadequate materials and structures that do not even resemble the original...

Nevertheless, it's one of the go-to sites in Panama City...we will continue the tour on another post! Thanks for visiting!

The Hat

This shirt is another purchase from Zara (sales), I really liked the color and the little ruffles at the front add a nice detail. I usually always carry a sweater with me, and I like to wear it around my shoulders for for an extra "vintagey" feel. Also, it's very practical considering I tend to lose/forget things so this way the sweater stays with me. I don't know if it's in or not, but it's something that's been done for so many many years, that I really like, it kind of has a timeless feeling to it.

My sister & I had been looking for a hat like this one for the longest time, until we found the perfect one and decided to finally buy it (50/50) hehe. I'm not very much of a hat person, though I do like baseball caps (for sun protection), but I find that wearing a hat takes some character. It's different, because it's an accessory that makes a big statement. Maybe it's just me, because I'm not used to it, but it also becomes an extra element of the outfit, that attracts a lot of attention. Guess, I'll have to wear it some more and then come back with a detailed analysis.

I'm pretending to be cool trying to do some hat tricks hehe. Though this one turned out pretty well! So, we can also conclude that hats are not only a cool accessory but can also be entertaining. And that they uncover hidden talents!

Toodles! Chao!
